Sometimes family is your worst enemy. I think Winston is about through being the dutiful son and ready to strike out on his own. (pun partly intentional, not that it will stop him)
Ah, family. The source of so much joy, frustration, and anger. I’ll stop the litany there. Everyone has their own experience and coping behavior.
IIRC, Eddi raised a good point–can Winston further his studies (mundane and arcane) without the parents footing his tuition?
Note: as someone who was awarded two, count ’em TWO demeaning nicknames from the paterfamilias, I’m rooting for Winston to leave “Whinny” behind him. Far behind.
