Survivor guilt. And who can he explain it to?
I’m thinking of that (in)famous conversation between Gandalf and Frodo in the Dwarven mines about who should live, who should die, and what we should do with our time.
As someone who survived a vehicle-pedestrian incident, “living on borrowed time” after an accident/disaster really does mess with your head. Though I suppose if you’re the kind of person who sees the world as always catering to them, then you’ll believe that survival at any cost is your right. From what I’ve seen, Winston isn’t that kind of guy despite his monied upbringing.
As far as who can he share this experience with? Depending on whether the ripples from his time trip didn’t wash away their memories, perhaps Esau and Standord.
Yithro? Maybe. Depends on whether their connections are two-sided or one.
Possibly Prince-Captain Rankin, though I don’t expect the cat to speak except in dreams.
And Lilliana IF she’s still among the living and hasn’t joined the wet-and-darkside AND isn’t nursing a Deep One vendetta against him because… reasons.
