I think all medieval scholars will join me in a chorus of “too soon!”
Would you believe I couldn’t make the line “I’ll be avoiding that like the plague” work? The line got trumped by the flyer image. The cliché lost the punchline fight, as it generally should.
Well, when it comes to social occasions, the plague indeed becomes an interesting alternative…
“Locksley Hall” sort of makes up for the corpses doing the Charleston. If the R.A.’s first name is Robin anyway.
‘Avoid like the plague’ has been retired, since apparently people don’t.
