Okay, maybe it wouldn’t get there this fast, but the forward cargo holds were some of the first things to flood after the forward part of the tank-top deck.
Anyway, in this second-to-last chapter, it’s time to ratchet up the tension with a ticking clock!
How about seconds to get out of the hold? Minutes to reach the deck. No time to find Esau if you want to find a lifeboat. Then sheer luck to be rescued by the ship that also picks up Esau. Easy-Peasy.
